The national public relations officer of the National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS), Comrade Obidah David, has commended the group’s president, Comrade Akinteye Babatunde Afeez, for unveiling the Constituency-based Scholarship Initiative to support Nigerian students.

In a statement issued yesterday, Obidah described the initiative as a remarkable intervention that demonstrates Akinteye’s commitment to expanding access to education and improving students’ welfare across various constituencies in the country.

According to him, the scholarship programme reflects visionary leadership and a strong dedication to addressing the educational challenges confronting Nigerian students.

“The Constituency-Based Scholarship Initiative is a clear demonstration of purposeful leadership and student-centred governance.

‘It shows a genuine commitment to improving access to education, supporting students across different constituencies, and promoting inclusive development within the Nigerian student community,” he said.

Obidah noted that the intervention would provide opportunities for many students facing financial challenges to pursue their academic aspirations.

He added that the initiative represents a significant step towards empowering young Nigerians and strengthening the nation’s future through education.

“This intervention is not only timely but also impactful. It will go a long way in easing the burden on students and their families while encouraging academic excellence and personal development among beneficiaries,” he stated.

The NANS spokesperson further praised Akinteye for his continued efforts towards advancing the interests of Nigerian students, describing the scholarship scheme as a milestone achievement under his leadership.

He called on relevant stakeholders, including government agencies, private organisations, and well-meaning individuals, to support initiatives that promote students’ welfare and educational development.

“We urge stakeholders to partner with and support programmes that advance the welfare of students, encourage academic excellence, and contribute to national progress. Education remains one of the most effective tools for nation-building,” Obidah said.

He further reaffirmed the NANS National Public Relations Office’s commitment to supporting policies and programmes that improve the educational experience and overall well-being of Nigerian students.
