Catholic Archbishop of Kaduna, Most Rev. Matthew Man-Oso Ndagoso, has said Nigerians are dying of hunger following the removal of petrol subsidy by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

He spoke yesterday at the 25 years priestly ordination anniversary of Very Rev. Fr. Clement Kagoma, Very Rev. Fr. Daniel Kyom, Rev. Fr. Bulus Karis Lukas and Fr. Stanley Shinkut in Kaduna.

“The fuel subsidy removal came as a surprise to many Nigerians, how can you remove subsidy at this point in time? The president should have put measures in place before removing the subsidy, he could have removed it gradually and Nigerians will become used to it.  But instead, he just dropped it like an atomic bomb.

“Many Nigerians are dying of hunger and many have lost their businesses. Mr president should put some measures in order to save Nigerians that are dying daily of hunger, the economic hardship is too much on the citizens,” he said.

He advised Nigerians to be hopeful as children of God, urging them to keep struggling for survival, as it will get better someday.

“Don’t give up on our country, I am sure we will pull out of it. I want our leaders to know that leadership is all about service and politics is greatest avenue of service, as a president the resources of this country are under your care and you have the opportunity to use these resources for the common good and you can use it to touch lives,” he added.

Rev. Fr. Karis Bulus Lukas and Rev. Fr. Daniel Kyom advised young priests to be patient, committed and dedicated to service of God.

They also advised Nigerians to be resilience and hardworking in order to thrive in the present challenges.
