Success Comes Only From Hard Work, Dedication – Yakubu

LIFE IN BRIEF

Born in 1993, Aisha Sabo Yakubu is a renowned businesswoman. Her desire to change her family’s economic status drove her to take -up trade and she is making a success of it. Her business has so far helped and still helping her put food on the table for her siblings as well as in solving all their finance related problems and low self -esteem.

She is beckoning on jobless women and youths to explore businesses to build a better society. She also believes that life’s challenges remains a motivational incentive to greater height.

 

BACKGROUND

My name is Aisha Sabo Yakubu. I was on March 8, 1993 in Anyigba, Dekina local government area of Kogi State. I am the third child from a beautiful family of seven children.

EDUCATION

I started my early education at Labson Model Nursery and Primary School in Abeokuta in Ogun State. I relocated back to my home state, Kogi, after the cool hands of death snatched away my loving father who was until his sudden demise civil servant.

Back home with my mother whose business could not survive the hardship caused by my father’s death, we struggled daily for survival and to the glory of God, we survived the harsh economic situation. Few months after my arrival, I gained admission into Agbeji Grammar School in Dekina local government area in year 2013.  In 2019, I gained admission into Kogi State University, Anyigba , now Prince Abubakar Audu University (PAAU).

CAREER

Upon my graduation and completion of the one year compulsory National Youth Corps Service (NYSC) I immediately ventured into business to enable me close the vacuum of hardship which the unexpected demise of my father created.  I took the step after a deep thought and putting into consideration the burden my mother bore trying hard to put food on our table.

It is important to mention here that before embarking on this business which is today, a success, I first moved back to my village to meet my mother to officially bless and permit me to move round on market survey and see where I can fit into. I was like what is next?  As there is little or no job for qualified Nigerian graduates after their NYSC.   I thereafter, accompanied a close friend who is into buying and selling during one of her business trips and this is where and how my success story began.

INSPIRATION

God Almighty is my all in all. Without him, I would have remained a nobody. If God were not with me, I would have been long gone. I also strongly believe that both my late dad and his deeds and prayers are all working for me.  Life is a journey punctuated by different episodes like a play in literature books. However, you have a role to play which will determine to a large extent, whether you fail or succeed. But I have vowed to remain strong because I have the power to choose who I want to be in life. I

ADVICE TO FELLOW WOMEN?

As President Muhammadu Buhari once said, “Women belong to the kitchen and other room” it is high time we do away with the notion that a woman’s education ends in the kitchen. Let’s all wake up and join the moving train of women activism so that our voices can be heard.

CHALLENGES

My challenge is mainly funding.

I also look forward to giving my children the best of life.

HOW ARE YOU DIFFERENT FROM OTHERS

I am not different from other women out there. I am just a woman who dares to live and achieve her dreams, impact humanity and raise children who  will  positively impact our world.

I am a strong believer in collaboration and partnership, I believe in people, they make things happen.

I am also a strong advocate of peace, hardwork, love and celebrating winners

I would say I am a giver. I love helping people and even going the extra mile to do so. I am a very selfless person and I derive so much joy seeing other people happy. I smile a lot, eat a lot and I can go out of my way for anyone, especially for the needy and the helpless. I don’t like seeing people suffer or in pains. I hate seeing women beaten, violated or being cheated.

ADVICE TO FELLOW WOMEN

My advice to women is to be intentional about every single thing. Be happy and grateful to God f

Do not be hard on yourself, focus on your strengths. Encourage and aspire to be better in the areas you are struggling.

Remember that partnership with God and fellow human is of utmost importance.

Ask for help if you need it, cry if you have to but take one day at a time. Encourage yourself and always bear in mind that Tomorrow Will Be Better.

Stand tall, be creative, support one another and never give up but do away with that “bring her down syndrome”. Let’s speak out when a woman is being violated. Let us show kindness, love and help to fellow women. God should be first in whatever we do
