New Porto striker Terem Moffi is already repaying the faith shown in him by the club’s management, declaring his move to the Portuguese giants a source of immense pride for both himself and his family.
The Super Eagles forward, who arrived on loan from Nice during the January transfer window, announced his arrival in style with a dramatic late winning goal. Thrown into the fray as a 68th-minute substitute, Moffi kept his composure to net a stoppage-time winner in the 98th minute, securing a crucial victory and marking a memorable start to his Portuguese adventure.
In an interview with Record, Moffi opened up about the honor of wearing the famous blue and white stripes and his commitment to contributing to the team’s success.
“I feel immense pride in representing FC Porto. It’s something very big for me and also for my family,” Moffi stated.
The Nigerian forward also shed light on the positive atmosphere within the dressing room, emphasizing the collective spirit fostered by the manager. He stressed the importance of unity and focus as the team navigates the remainder of the season.
“As the manager said, there’s good energy, no negativity. We have to stay focused. We have to want to play, want to improve, and be a real family. That’s why we’ve been working hard these last few days and weeks,” he explained.
Moffi also touched upon the finer details of his game that he believes are crucial for making an impact at the highest level, hinting at the continuous work he puts in to refine his craft.
“It comes down to the small details. The touch, the right moment to appear, the timing… all of that. As a player, that’s what differentiates you from everyone else, the details. And that’s exactly what he’s been trying to do in the last two or three years,” he said.
Acknowledging the trust placed in him by the coaching staff, Moffi is determined to make every minute on the pitch count, looking forward rather than dwelling on past results.
“When we are called upon to intervene, it’s because the manager trusts us and the club trusts us. We did our part and were unlucky not to score and not to win the games. But that’s not what we’re focused on. We’re focused on the present and on tomorrow’s [today’s] game,” he concluded.
