The Supreme Court has scheduled Thursday for the hearing of the Kano State gubernatorial appeal. Both parties involved were officially notified of this decision by the Apex Court.
Recall that on November 17th, the Court of Appeal affirmed the election petition tribunal’s ruling, ousting Governor Abba Yusuf of the New Nigeria Peoples Party and declaring Dr. Nasiru Gawuna of the APC as the winner.
The three-member appeal court panel rejected Governor Yusuf’s appeal, citing concerns related to his party membership. However, confusion ensued on Tuesday, November 21, as the Certified True Copy (CTC) of the court judgement, surfacing four days post-delivery, revealed inconsistencies in the conclusions.
Following the appellate court judgement, Kano has been gripped by a sense of unease and anxiety, leading the police to enforce a ban on all forms of protest as a preventive measure against potential law and order disruptions.
