Surveyors Warn Nigerians Against Patronising Quacks

The Association of Private Practising Surveyors of Nigeria (APPSN), Lagos State chapter, has called on Nigerians to stop patronising quacks, pledging to strengthen advocacy efforts to educate the public on the benefits of patronising registered surveyors.

Theey made the call during the swearing-in ceremony of new executive council members at the 2025 Annual General Meeting and Luncheon with the theme, ‘’Unlocking the Untapped Potential in the Surveying Profession.”

Chairman of APPSN, Lagos chapter, Ibikunle Adaranijo explained that the new executives would develop a new strategic plan to guide the activities and initiatives of the association for the next two years.

Adaranijo noted that to build a stronger and a more prudent association that services and advances the interest of the profession, APPSN Lagos chapter, will invest in more training and workshop programmes for its members.

The guest speaker, Olugbenga Adekoya, identified slow technological adoption, expanding the scope of services, continuous education and training, collaboration and networking as well as branding and reputation management as factors limiting the profession.

 

He also talked about the need for advocacy and public awareness and the enhancement of professionalism and ethics in the field.

Adekoya noted that many surveyors still rely on outdated equipment or methods thereby limiting efficiency.

 

He encouraged members of the association to extensively adopt the modern technologies and conform to the reputation and perfect image of the surveying profession.

 

The newly chairman of APPSN, Lagos chapter, Olaoluwa Afolabi pledged to enforce discipline among members and enhance robust collaboration among the association’s sub-groups and the parent body to lift the profession to enviable heights.

 

He also expressed optimism that his tenure would foster peace and unity among members.
