A suspected car thief has been apprehended by the security unit of the Plateau State Specialist Hospital while attempting to steal a Toyota Camry parked near the Amenity Ward of the hospital.
The Public Relation Officer of the hospital, Talatu Angi, who confirmed the incident to LEADERSHIP, said the vehicle belongs to a patient who had come to see a doctor at about 7:15 a.m.
Angi explained that the suspect attempted to unlock the vehicle using a master key, unaware that the owner was still seated inside the car.
The alerted car owner immediately apprehended the suspect and raised an alarm, prompting a swift response from the hospital’s security personnel on duty.
The PRO commended the Unit for their vigilance, dedication, and quick response, which averted what could have been a major theft within the hospital premises.
She added that the suspect will be handed over to the “A” Division Police Station, Jos, for further investigation and possible prosecution.
The PRO urged members of the public, hospital staff, and visitors to remain vigilant and report any suspicious individuals or activities to the nearest security personnel, adding that collective responsibility remains key to ensuring a safe and secure environment for all.
