The Amina Agbo Foundation (TAAF) has advocated for women’s empowerment at the grassroots to create a more inclusive and economically resilient society.
In pursuit of this goal, the foundation has initiated collaboration talks with the Alumni Association of the National Institute (AANI) and the National Council for Women Societies (NCWS) to roll out its EHI Project in Abuja.
During courtesy visits on May 20, 2025, the foundation’s founder, Dr. Sarah Ogah-Aduwari, appealed to the leadership of the AANI and the NCWS to join the campaign for grassroots gender empowerment.
The EHI Project (Empower, Heal, Inspire) is an evidence-based intervention to equip over 100 indigent women with livelihood skills, psychosocial support, health services, and business seed capital. The upcoming edition, set for November 2025 in Abuja, follows successful conferences in Bayelsa, Port Harcourt, and Benue.
“The systemic inequalities women face in Nigeria cannot be addressed by one organisation alone. We need the strength of institutions like AANI and NCWS to institutionalise these solutions,” Ogah-Aduwari said.
According to the statement, the NCWS President, Princess Edna Azura, described the initiative as timely and well-structured. She reaffirmed NCWS’s openness to collaboration and emphasised that lifting women out of poverty is an imperative for national development.
The foundation also seeks technical, logistical, and funding support from AANI, especially in providing mentors and facilitators for the event. AANI officials expressed interest in the initiative and applauded the foundation’s practical, results-driven approach to empowerment.
Through its multi-sectoral projects such as the Dorcas Project, J-NILE, and Talitakumi, TAAF addresses the intersectional barriers to women and youth development, making it a vital actor in advancing Nigeria’s Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
TAAF’s growing partnerships with national institutions are expected to consolidate impact and inspire more collaborations to foster inclusive growth and resilience at the community level.
