Ahead of the 2027 general elections, former Sokoto State governor and senator representing Sokoto South, Aminu Waziru Tambuwal has lambasted President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for persecuting and manipulating institutions to the disadvantage of opposition parties.

According to Tambuwal, Tinubu, who presented himself as a democrat, is acting like a pseudo-democrat, alleging efforts to suppress the opposition and influence key institutions, including the judiciary.

Despite these concerns, Tambuwal maintained that the opposition remains resilient and committed to unseating the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in the 2027 elections.

He emphasised the importance of defending and sustaining multi-party democracy in Nigeria.

Addressing a crowd at the African Democratic Congress (ADC) congress in Sokoto, Tambuwal expressed confidence that the party would emerge victorious in the next general elections.

“By the grace of God, we will win,” he said. “This time, no one will rig us out. We are determined to rescue Nigeria and Sokoto State”.

Tambuwal criticized the federal government under Tinubu for worsening insecurity, poverty, and hunger across the country.

He believes Nigerians have seen the administration’s shortcomings and are eager for change.

The former governor also faulted the Sokoto State government for failing to meet citizens’ expectations.

He appealed for continued mobilisation, membership registration, and unity among those interested in good governance to enable the ADC to achieve success in the 2027 elections.

The ADC congress in Sokoto elected new state executives, including Alhaji Abdullahi Maigwandu as chairman, Alhaji Bello Isiaku Keegan as deputy chairman, and Kabiru Sarkin Fulani as secretary.
