The member representing the Ngoroje constituency at the Taraba State House of Assembly and chairman of the House Committee on Information, Hon. Nelson Len, has defended the N6.39 billion foreign trip expenses procured by the state’s Governor, Agbu Kefas, as recently released by the National Bureau of Statistics (NBS).
NBS recently released statistics on funds used by Nigerian governors for foreign trips. The statistics revealed that the Taraba state governor had spent a huge sum of over N6.39 billion.
Len said the trips embarked on by the governor were to woo foreign investors into the state for massive revenue generation, accelerated development and employment for the youths in line with the governor’s administrative agenda.
He stated this at the State House of Assembly while answering questions from journalists on the 2025 budget estimate of N429billion presented to the assembly on Monday.
Len said the governor must travel the globe in search of investors who will harness the state’s potential since Taraba is blessed with human and natural resources.
“It is not just about the figure as released by the NBS; it is also about what the governor has been doing around the globe. In recent times, we have seen investors coming into the state, and we believe this is as a result of the trips the governor has embarked on since he assumed office.
“We have mineral resources across all local government areas of the state, but we can not sit here and expect investors to know about them; we must go round to let the whole world know what we have and why we need them to invest in the state.
“The governor mean well for the state and we as members of the state house of assembly are ready to support him to bring development into the state, now that he has presented the 2025 budget estimate, is our duty to give the bill serious attention and ensure that it is pass into law on time,” Len stated.
