Stakeholders of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Taraba North Senatorial District, alongside the national leadership of the Conference of APC Support Groups, have called on the party leadership and relevant authorities to uphold the outcome of the party’s senatorial primary election in the district.
The stakeholders, in a statement jointly signed by the Coordinator of Taraba North Stakeholders, Hon. Abubakar Umar Ibrahim, and the General Secretary of the Conference of APC Support Groups, Dr. Bilal Galadima, congratulated Hon. Muhammad Kabir Bello on his victory in the APC senatorial primary election for Taraba North.
They also congratulated Senator Haruna Manu of Taraba Central and Senator David Jimkuta of Taraba South on their emergence as the party’s senatorial candidates, describing their victories as outcomes of a transparent electoral process.
According to the statement, the primary elections were conducted by the APC National Assembly Primary Election Committee and monitored by officials of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
The stakeholders, however, expressed concern over what they described as alleged attempts by some individuals within the party to overturn the outcome of the Taraba North primary election.
They claimed there were indications of efforts to reverse the result already declared in favour of Bello, whom they described as the preferred candidate of party members in the district.
“The will of APC members in Taraba North must be respected. The primary election was conducted in line with party guidelines, observed by INEC and produced a clear winner,” the statement said.
The group warned that any attempt to alter the declared outcome could undermine confidence in the party’s internal democratic processes and the credibility of the electoral system.
They called on INEC to uphold the integrity of its monitoring process, while urging the APC national leadership to protect the outcome of the primary election and resist any pressure aimed at changing the result.
The stakeholders also appealed to the Taraba State Government to remain neutral and ensure that no unlawful interference occurs in the matter.
Reaffirming their commitment to democratic principles, the group stressed that any action capable of disenfranchising APC members in Taraba North would be challenged through lawful and democratic means.
They further urged all relevant authorities to act in the interest of justice and safeguard the credibility of the APC ahead of the forthcoming general elections.
