The Taraba State Board of Internal Revenue Service, in collaboration with I-Tech Platform Limited, has launched a two-day training programme aimed at fully automating the State’s revenue collection process.

Held at the board’s conference hall in Jalingo, the State capital, the training focused on modernising revenue collection methods to enhance efficiency and increase the state’s internally generated revenue (IGR).

Declaring the session open, the chairman of the Board, General Jeremiah Faransa (Rtd.), emphasised the importance of continuous staff training to ensure effective service delivery. He noted that the automation initiative would streamline tax collection, reduce inefficiencies, and align the state with best practices in digital revenue management.

“The essence of this training is to equip our staff with the best revenue collection and management system, making tax collection seamless and boosting Taraba State’s IGR,” Faransa stated. “Other states have advanced in digitisation, and it is time for us to catch up. I urge all participants to take this training seriously and make full use of the system.”

He commended I-Tech Platform Limited for deploying what he described as a robust revenue management system designed to improve collection efficiency and curb leakages.

Speaking separately at the event, the CEO of I-Tech Platform Limited, Mr. Iliya Musa, and the CTO, Mr. Joseph Adah Jonathan, expressed confidence in the Flopay Revenue Management System, which will replace manual revenue collection with a fully digital process.

“The transition from manual to automated revenue collection is essential in eliminating irregularities and ensuring transparency,” Musa stated. “Flopay offers features such as unique taxpayer identity generation, automated tax clearance certificates, and real-time assessment tracking.”

Musa further urged the state government to take the automation process seriously and implement measures against individuals who may attempt to undermine the system. He assured that Flopay is flexible and can be adjusted to meet the state’s specific needs.

Board members, Mr. Theophilus Japhet and Mr. Maggai Bala Agyo, praised the initiative, stating that the new system would synchronise revenue collection and eliminate leakages.

Participants at the training lauded the effort and pledged their commitment to ensuring a smooth transition to the automated system.
