The Made in Nigeria Project in Taraba State has shortlisted 12 technology professionals to spearhead the first phase of the Taraba Digital Registry Project, marking a key milestone in the state’s drive to digitally promote local businesses, products and investment opportunities.

The state coordinator of the project, Hon. Justin Tyopuusu, disclosed this in a statement issued in Jalingo, saying the volunteers emerged after a rigorous and transparent recruitment process.

According to the statement, the project received 43 applications from technology professionals interested in supporting the initiative. The successful applicants will be assigned specialised responsibilities as implementation progresses in phases.

Tyopuusu said the digital registry project is receiving technical support from Leonado LLC, a United States-based technology company led by its chief executive officer, Wannapat Rojwanichakorn of Thailand.

He disclosed that discussions were at an advanced stage for the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the Taraba State Government and Leonado LLC to establish a comprehensive digital platform that will showcase Made-in-Taraba products, businesses and investment opportunities to national and international markets.

According to him, the partnership was facilitated by Joseph Samson, a Taraba indigene and technology expert with Leonado LLC, at no financial cost to the state government.

Tyopuusu commended Samson for his patriotism and commitment to the state’s development, saying the initiative demonstrates the vital role members of the diaspora can play in attracting innovation, investment and sustainable development.

He also praised Governor Agbu Kefas for providing the leadership needed to transform Taraba into a competitive economic hub through policies that support entrepreneurship, innovation and industrial development.

According to him, the governor’s commitment to economic diversification and private sector development will enable local entrepreneurs to access wider markets while creating jobs and generating wealth.

“The Taraba Digital Registry will provide local businesses with unprecedented visibility, allowing them to showcase their products and services across Nigeria and internationally.

“It is a strategic step towards building a globally competitive economy for Taraba State,” Tyopuusu said.

He added that once completed, the registry would rank among the first digital platforms of its kind in Nigeria, connecting producers, investors, buyers and development partners while promoting the identity and competitiveness of Made-in-Taraba products.

Tyopuusu encouraged applicants who were not shortlisted to remain engaged, assuring them that additional volunteer opportunities would be available as subsequent phases of the project commence.

He reaffirmed the commitment of the Made in Nigeria Project to work with the Taraba State Government, development partners and the private sector to ensure the successful implementation of the Taraba Digital Registry and strengthen the state’s position as a destination for investment, innovation and enterprise development.
