The management of Kano Electricity Distribution Company (KEDCO) has okayed the new tariff review, saying it will enhance the company’s capacity towards improved service delivery across its franchise area.

In a statement signed by the company’s head of Corporate Communications, Ibrahim Shawai, the management said it was endorsing the review because it is for the benefit of citizens who are the end users of electricity.

According to the management, KEDCO has maintained a steady improvement in service delivery over the years and with the new tariff system, customers are to expect a new dimension of satisfaction that will herald an era of total and comprehensive satisfaction for all KEDCO stakeholders.

In specifics, the management listed the benefits of the tariff review to include: revenue from the tariff review will help KEDCO resolve identified technical network constraints that will enable more Supply of energy to our customers; enable Improved Power Supply Reliability by Making Investments to Reduce  Number of Customer Interruptions.

Rehabilitation of our Network that will enable KEDCO achieve zero deaths and Injuries by improving health, safety and environmental and compliance, among others.

Commenting, the managing director/chief executive Officer of KEDCO, Dr Jamil Gwamna said: “We are not in business to do anything short of giving satisfaction to our customers and in any case that is the essence of business; rendering such services that will impact positively on the satisfaction of our customers. When this tariff takes full effect, customers will feel the positive impact in improved service delivery, that we can assure them.’’

Dr Gwamna therefore appealed to customers to embrace the initiative, stressing that it would chart a good course for power sector development in the country.
