TCN Repairs 4 Vandalised Towers in Rivers

The Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) has begun the rehabilitation of four towers vandalised along the Afam-IPP–Elelenwo 132kV double-circuit transmission line.

The company disclosed this in a statement issued by its management on Monday.

According to TCN, the vandalism was discovered on August 6, 2026, by its lines engineers from the Port Harcourt Region. Towers T50 to T53 were affected, with their tower members removed and carted away.

TCN said this is the fifth vandalism attack on the same line in recent times.

The company said rehabilitation work is ongoing and called on all stakeholders to join hands to curb the menace, which it said is threatening the stability of the national grid.

The Afam-IPP-Elelenwo 132kV double-circuit line carries power from the Afam Independent Power Project (IPP) to the Elelenwo area of Port Harcourt, Rivers State. It has now been attacked five times in recent times, according to TCN.
