The Colleges of Education Academic Staff Union (COEASU) is set to honor Arch. Sonny Echono, the Executive Secretary of the Tertiary Education Trust Fund (TETFund), with the prestigious Legacy Award for Educational Advancement and induction into the COEASU Hall of Fame.

In a letter to the Executive Secretary, COEASU President Dr. Smart Olugbeko stated that the award is being conferred in celebration of International Teachers’ Day.

According to him, the award ceremony will occur on Thursday, October 4, 2024, at the Ukeje National Commission for Colleges of Education, Abuja.

He said, “We are writing to inform you of the Colleges of Education Academic Staff Union (COEASU) ‘s decision to confer upon you the prestigious Legacy Award for Educational Advancement and induct you into the COEASU Hall of Fame.

“This recognition is a testament to your exceptional leadership, vision, and dedication to excellence in education, particularly your cheerful disposition toward Teacher Education, from your time as the Permanent Secretary at the Federal Ministry of Education to your current role as Executive Secretary of TETFund. The Union appreciates your instrumental role in actualising the Dual Mandate, which has enabled Colleges of Education to award both NCE and degree certificates. Your tireless efforts, exemplary leadership, and advocacy have been pivotal in shaping the future of Teacher Education in Nigeria.

“Your significant strides at TETFund have not only transformed the education landscape but have also opened new opportunities for students and educators alike.
