The stage is set for the 9th edition of the Tech Innovation Awards (TIA), an annual celebration of excellence designed to recognise Africa’s leading innovators, policymakers, and technology leaders driving the continent’s digital transformation.
The prestigious awards, organised by InstinctWave Group in partnership with Digital Economy Magazine, will hold on November 29, 2025, at the Oriental Hotel, Victoria Island, Lagos.
Building on the resounding success of its previous editions, this year’s event will spotlight individuals and organisations pioneering breakthroughs in telecommunications, artificial intelligence, fintech, and sustainable innovation across Africa’s rapidly expanding digital economy.
According to the organisers, the 2025 edition underscores Nigeria’s pivotal role as a hub for technological advancement and innovation on the continent. Entries are open to individuals, teams, government agencies, and organisations operating across Africa’s ICT and digital sectors.
The TIA features a dynamic lineup of categories that recognise excellence across critical areas of Africa’s technology landscape.
Categories include Sustainable Innovation with honours such as Best Bank in Sustainability and Innovative Renewable Energy Provider of the Year and Financial Inclusion, featuring the Financial Inclusion Bank of the Year and Cross-Border Fintech Solution Award.
Other segments – Ingenuity & Infrastructure and Key Sector Transformation will celebrate Technology Person of the Year, Innovative Tech Delivery Company of the Year, Connectivity & Cloud Services Company of the Year, Digital Bank of the Year, AgriTech Innovation of the Year, and Innovative Shipping Company of the Year.
Chief Executive Officer of InstinctWave Group, Akin Naphtal, said the TIA has become a beacon for Africa’s burgeoning digital economy, where innovative ideas are recognised and transformed into collaborative ventures.
“As we gear up for the 9th edition, we are more committed than ever to fostering an inclusive platform that empowers diverse innovators to tackle pressing challenges in telecom, AI, and sustainable tech, Nigeria continues to lead the charge in shaping the global innovation narrative,” Naphtal said.
Also speaking, the Group Publisher of Digital Economy Magazine described the awards as “a transformative platform” that has inspired collaboration, inclusion, and investment across Africa’s digital ecosystem.
“Through the TIA, we have witnessed how visionary leaders and organisations are dismantling barriers to digital inclusion and economic empowerment in Africa, turning Lagos into a veritable Silicon Savannah,” he said.
He further urged innovators and organisations across the continent to submit entries for recognition, noting that the awards will serve as “a blueprint for the next wave of investments and policies redefining Africa’s technological destiny.”
