Rockford Police, in a statement confirming the attacks on its X handle, formerly Twitter, said the harrowing incident occurred Wednesday afternoon.

Police said the Rockford became the scene of a devastating stabbing spree that left four individuals dead, including a teenage girl, and several others injured.

It also confirmed the apprehension of a 22-year-old male suspect following the violent attacks that occurred at multiple locations within the city, approximately 90 miles northwest of Chicago.

Announcing the grim outcome of the spree, the police have yet to shed light on the motivations behind the suspect’s actions and this leaves the community and the nation to grapple with the shock and sorrow of the event.

Initial reports from the police stated that five individuals had sustained injuries in the attacks, however updated information from the US media sources, citing police statements, have revised the number of wounded persons to seven.
The increase in the number of victims underscores the chaotic and extensive nature of the attacks and highlighting the urgency and efficiency with which the local law enforcement responded to the crisis.
