Three persons arrested by the Department of State Security (DSS) in Sokoto over terrorism and arms proliferation allegations have been sentenced to death by hanging by the State High Court.

The three suspects, who include a national of the Republic of Niger, Jabbi Alhaji Yalle, alongside Yusuf Muhammad, also known as Sallau and Kabiru Muhammad, were convicted and sentenced to death by Justice Nuraddeen Muhammed Bello of the State High Court 23 in Sokoto.

Delivering his verdict in the case marked SS/45c/2026, Justice Bello affirmed that the three were charged with terrorism and arms trafficking, adding that by the weight of evidence presented against them, he has found all of them guilty as charged.

Justice Bello further ordered the forfeiture of all monetary exhibits recovered from the convicts to the Federal Government of Nigeria.

It will be recalled that the trio of Yusuf Muhammad (alias Sallau), a Nigerian,  Jabbi Alhaji Yalle, and Kabiru Muhammad were apprehended on 13 June 2025, by the Department of State Services Counter Terrorism Unit in connection with cross-border criminal activities over arms trafficking and terrorism.

Reacting to the judgment, which is the latest to be prosecuted by the Department of State Security (DSS), locals applauded the intelligence agency, noting that it should sustain the tempo against anyone involved in acts of organised cross-border criminality and terrorism in Nigeria.

Locals also appealed to all relevant security agencies and those responsible for ensuring justice to always treat issues of such magnitude with the necessary speed.
