A group, the Muslim Rights Concern (MURIC) has warned that the case of terrorists captured in Plateau State must not be swept under the carpet.

Reacting to the arrests in a statement on Tuesday, the group’s executive director, Prof. Ishaq Akintola, hailed the Nigerian Army, insisting that the arrested individuals must face the full wrath of the law.

It would be recalled that men of “Operation Enduring Peace”, one of the code names of troops of the Nigerian Army maintaining security in the country’s hotbeds, reportedly arrested nine suspected militia members responsible for targeted killings in Plateau.

The arrests allegedly took place on Saturday, 18th April, 2026. Arms and ammunition were also recovered during the operation in Riyom local government area of Plateau State.

“Eight of the suspects were identified as Gyang Dantoro, Samson Davou, Choji Yakubu, Vincent Adamu, Pam Dalyop, Femi Badung, Jacob Musa and Choji Chaga. All the suspects are Berom and residents of Danwal.

Arms and ammunition recovered from the suspects include three motorcycles, one pistol, one submachine gun, one locally made revolver, one rifle, 20 rounds of pistol ammunition, and one locally fabricated rifle”, the group said.

MURIC hailed the Nigerian Army for this feat, saying, “We are horrified by the sophisticated weapons seized during the raid. We note in particular the submachine gun, a deadly weapon capable of firing up to 1,400 bullets within minutes! It is used only during war.

“Who do the Christian Berom militia want to wipe out? The answer is not far-fetched: Plateau Muslims, whom they refer to as non-indigenes.

‎‎”Although we have always maintained that there are terrorists among the Christians of the Berom tribe in Plateau State, the latest discovery has helped to vindicate us.

‎‎”The signs have always been there, particularly going by the number of Muslim individuals and groups who have disappeared in that zone, including hundreds of Muslim travellers who have been killed in the state.”
