Psalm 124:7;
1 Corinthians 16:9;
Luke 1:5-20; &
Romans 1:30
You will recall that when we started this teaching, we read a number of scriptures, including:
Psalms 124:7 (KJV):
“Our soul is escaped as a bird out of the snare of the fowlers; the snare is broken, and we are escaped”
1 Corinthians 16:9 (KJV):
For a great door and effectual is opened unto me, and there are many adversaries.”
And we have heard that without a breakthrough, you remain where you are, and that whether we like it or not, everyone needs one breakthrough or the other, and that the agenda of the Almighty is that we go from strength to strength and from glory to glory.
And I have explained that at the edge of every breakthrough, there is an array of mad spirits contesting with people. We have spoken about a particular demon called “almost there but never there.” It is a powerful demon at the edge of breakthrough.
Can you raise up your right hand and say it authoritatively the way I will say mine:
Thou power of almost there in my life, hear the word of the Lord, my life is not your candidate. Therefore, die! in the name of Jesus.
We also explained that one major agenda of the enemy is to kill a person when the person is at the edge of a breakthrough. It is a very sad situation.
I know a Professor, maybe of Mathematics, who was married for 27 years without having a child. Then, miraculously, the wife got pregnant and delivered a bouncing baby boy in America.
He was in Nigeria, and then somebody called him on the phone and said* _”Congratulations, professor; your wife has just delivered a bouncing baby boy!.”
He jumped up in joy, fell down, and died! What kind of an enemy is this? He was waiting for him at that junction.
Sister, I decree upon your life, brother I decree upon your life, that every enemy that is waiting for you at the junction of your testimonies, waiting for you at the junction of your glory, they must die! in the name of Jesus!
Say a sevenfold Amen!
We need to deal with what we call “anti-breakthrough powers,”and to do that:
- You need to possess a fighting spirit.
There is a song that says_I am born to win.”Born to win automatically wins “born to fight.”
Fighting wars started in heaven, not here. If Michael and his angels fought the dragon to maintain the purposes of God in heaven, what makes you feel that you and I have no battle to fight?
The Bible says in Revelation 12:7 (KJV):_ “And there was war in heaven: Michael and his angels fought against the dragon; and the dragon fought and his angels.”
The dragon of your father’s house, the dragon of your mother’s house, that is always saying NO anytime you are close to your breakthroughs; they must die! in the name of Jesus.
A Sevenfold Amen
So, “born to win” means “born to fight.” You cannot be an overcomer without fighting. A very careful reading of the book of Revelation will expose to you a common sentence:”He that overcometh.”
You cannot overcome without a fight. You fight, and you overcome. Many times, believers are too passive. We tend to allow whatever is going on to be going on, and when things do not work according to the expectations of many people, everything in them dies. No. Fighters do not behave like that.
The beautiful thing is that God loves fighters. After Jacob fought, he was blessed. After blind Bartimaeus fought, God blessed him. God never abandons fighters. He said: Fight the good fight of faith (1 Timothy 6:12).
So, faith is a fight, you fight it. That is why, if you carefully look at the Bible very well, it will not take you long to find out that the Bible is a military book, and you can find military terminologies scattered all over the Bible.
Jacob had a fighting spirit; he fought his way from Jacob to Israel. Unfortunately, many of us want to occupy conquered territories. We do not want to go pick a fight.
You want to enlarge your coast? You must fight;
You want to repossess your possessions? You must fight;
You want to expand your territory? You must fight;
You want to live in peace? You must fight.
It is not everybody who will marry easily, get jobs easily, get that scholarship easily, or have children easily; a fight is required.
Life is not fair, and many times, life will not give you what you deserve; it is you who will say, “No! I demand! I decree! I possess!”And you fight it out to get what you want. You need to have that fighting spirit.
Fighters are men and women who till the ground, and they go to strange territories and take them over. They go to do what people have not done before.
Daniel and his colleagues were given the food served in the King’s Palace. They should have been rejoicing that they were being served the same food the king would eat.
But they were aware that the cook and the caterers and the kitchen and everything else were dedicated to idols, and before the food was brought out to the king, it would have been first dedicated. Those fighters did what no one had done before. They said they were not eating.
The chief Eunuch was stupefied that they refused to eat. He said “You have to eat.”They said* “no, serve us beans.” The man said”Ah, but when you eat only beans and you grow lean, the king will have my head.”
They said “Give us the beans.”And then the Bible says that Daniel and his colleagues who were on beans were ten times better than those who were eating the king’s food. They had fighting spirits.
Nebuchadnezzar confronted the people, saying, What time ye hear the sound of the cornet, flute, harp, sackbut, psaltery, dulcimer, and all kinds of music, ye fall down and worship the golden image that Nebuchadnezzar the king hath set up_ (Daniel 3:5).
But these fighting men refused to bow. He invited them. He said: Is it true, O Shadrach, Meshach, and Abed-nego, that you do not serve my gods or worship the golden image that I have set up?
He said, “Now if ye be ready that at what time ye hear the sound of the cornet, flute, harp, sackbut, psaltery, and dulcimer, and all kinds of music, ye fall down and worship the image which I have made; well; but if ye worship not, ye shall be cast the same hour into the midst of a burning, fiery furnace; and who is that God that shall deliver you out of my hands?”(Daniel 3:15).
They answered,”O Nebuchadnezzar, we are not careful to answer thee in this matter.” Normally we should have spoken respectfully, but in this case, no sir. This idol you put down, we prefer to burn than to bow to it.If it be so, our God, whom we serve, is able to deliver us from the burning fiery furnace, and he will deliver us out of thine hand, O King.”
They then added something: “But if not, be it known unto thee, O king, that we will not serve thy gods, nor worship the golden image which thou hast set up.” That is a fighting spirit. And those men went and threw them into the fire
They did not know that they were doing them a huge favour. If those men had not put up that fight, they would not have seen the favour. In that fire, four great miracles happened in their lives:
- Their enemies died in their place. Those men who threw them into the fire died instead of them;
I am praying that your enemies shall die in your place! in the name of Jesus.
A Sevenfold Amen
- Their bondages were loosened;
- Their being thrown into the fire for the first time enabled them to meet the King of Kings and the Lord of Lords inside the fire until Nebuchadnezzar said, “But three men were thrown into the fire, but we can see four men walking loose.”
I am praying for you; you shall meet the fourth man in the fire, in the fire! in the name of Jesus.
A Sevenfold Amen
- They became prime ministers. They were promoted. Nebuchadnezzar said, “Come out of the fire,”and they walked majestically out of the fire, and people were looking at them in wonder the men whose bodies the fire had no power over.
They walked out of the fire and into promotion. But if they did not put up a fight, if they chose to bow down, that would have been it. Their miracle would have stopped there.
Maybe you work in an office as a secretary, and God has pencilled your name down to become the manager. Although you do not think you are qualified, that is what heaven has planned for you.
And if you now begin to sleep with your boss in that office, you cut yourself off from that promotion. God wants fighters. The kingdom of heaven allows violence.
The Bible says, The kingdom of heaven suffereth violence, and the violent take it by force.”Suffereth means to allow. Fighters dictate terms.
Elijah said, “You call on the name of your god; I will call on the name of my God. The God that answereth by fire, let Him be God.He dictated the terms. The church should be a house of fighting, a war camp. Your father’s name is God. God is a Man of war.
May the Lord give you the fighting spirit, in the name of Jesus!”
Engage that fighting spirit. Do not just look at it going. If you see that what ought to be is not what is happening, you have the power to decide and decree that what ought to be must be. It is fighting.
Listen carefully. We are talking about the secrets of breakthroughs. In that scripture, what Zechariah had was just mercy, because he was at the edge of his own breakthrough, but he spoke words that could cancel it.
Listen: everything is made of words. Words can be audible or inaudible. The heart perceives what the mouth is manufacturing.
You can conceive your dream within your spiritual womb, then, with your mouth, create it. The words you speak out of your mouth confirm what you perceive in your heart and give birth to what you conceive in your spiritual womb.
Many good dreams are aborted by speaking against what has already been done. Others abort their dreams by the utterance of the wrong kinds of words.
The Bible says:
*Proverbs 6:2 (KJV): “Thou art snared with the words of thy mouth, thou art taken with the words of thy mouth.”
Proverbs 18:21 (KJV):”Death and life are in the power of the tongue: and they that love it shall eat the fruit thereof.”
You do not only create when you speak positive words; every negative word you speak creates an atmosphere of failure around you.
_The enemy is not interested in the positive words you are speaking. The enemy responds to the negative words as much as God responds to the positive words you are speaking.
This is a very serious matter. The angel looked at Zechariah and thought, “If I allow this man to talk, he will talk his way out of his testimony and breakthrough.”
The Bible says in Matthew 16:19 (KJV): _”And I will give unto thee the keys of the kingdom of heaven: and whatsoever thou shalt bind on earth shall be bound in heaven: and whatsoever thou shalt loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven.”
A dramatic process is engineered when we speak. When we speak positively, the angels of God are immediately released to carry out what we have said.
But when the words are negative, the demons of hell are released to bring what we have said to pass. When somebody begins to say things like:
I will never make it;
This thing is too difficult;
I cannot do it;
This headache will kill;
Our family members do not normally make it.
Those words are the primary creators or vehicles of trouble or joy. You can create positively or negatively. Your mouth is a powerhouse. You must note what you say with it when your breakthrough is close.
If Hannah had said to Eli,”To hell with your church, I came here, and you are just talking to me anyhow, do you know who I am?” She would have cancelled everything.
Romans 1:30 (KJV) says:”Backbiters, haters of God, despiteful, proud, boasters, inventors of evil things.” Here, Paul speaks about inventors.
You can use your mouth to invent good or evil things. Most of the failures Christians perceive in their lives are not caused so much by witches and wizards as by the accumulated volume of negative words they speak.
Until you speak life, death will continue to hang around you. We have to be careful of what we say, particularly if we are praying for breakthroughs.
