The organisers of The Papyrus Global have announced the rebranding of its flagship local government conference and awards from The Papyrus Global Local Government Chairmen/ Mayors Conference & Awards (PAGLOGMA) to The Papyrus Global Mayors Conference & Awards (PAGMACA).
The transition reflects the platform’s rapid international expansion and its newly attained global stature as a convening body for urban and grassroots leadership across continents.
According to the organisers, the rebrand is designed to align the initiative with global governance structures, in which “Mayors” serve as recognised leaders of cities and local administrations. While maintaining its strong roots in Nigeria—where Local Government Chairmen will continue to play a central role as mayoral equivalents—the new identity positions the platform for broader international engagement.
The 2026 edition of PAGMACA is set to feature participation from Mayors and local government leaders across 27 African countries, as well as delegates from Europe, the United States of America, Asia, and other regions.
The event aims to foster cross-continental collaboration, promote grassroots governance excellence, and create opportunities for strategic partnerships.
Speaking on the development, the project initiator and managing Director of Papyrus Global, Hon. Chief Doofan Damsa-Justin, says: “This transition marks a defining moment for us. PAGMACA is not just a name change — it reflects our evolution into a truly global platform. We are building a bridge within Africa and the world through local governance leadership.”
The conference and awards will continue to recognise outstanding performance, innovation, and impact at the grassroots level, while also expanding its scope to include global best practices in urban governance, economic development, and community transformation.
The Papyrus Global Mayors Conference & Awards (PAGMACA), therefore, serves as an international platform dedicated to celebrating excellence, fostering collaboration, and driving innovation among mayors and local government leaders worldwide, starting with Africa.
