Text: Matthew 7:21-23, Psalms 103:7

This morning, I would like you to read this message  with understanding. This is a sermon for those who can think deep, who want to go to their next level with God, and who are tired of the life of the valley.

Matthew 7:21-23 (KJV) says, “Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven. Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? and in thy name have cast out devils? and in thy name done many wonderful works? And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity.”

One of the most amazing and very deep statements that Jesus ever made is what we have just read here.

These people were prophesying in His name, healing the sick in His name, raising the dead in His name, and doing very wonderful works in His name, yet He said, “I never knew you. Your name is not in our book.” These words of scripture in Psalms 103:7 now make plenty of sense.

Psalms 103:7 (KJV) “He made known his ways unto Moses, his acts unto the children of Israel.”

Two Ways To Relate With God:

His ways.

His acts.

Knowing His acts is a low level of knowing God. His acts are signs and wonders, miracles, signs, and breakthroughs. But He prefers you know His ways.

God is more interested in getting you to be His friend. He prefers you be His friend instead of just solving your problems, because once you become His friend, all your problems are gone. Knowing only His acts is a low level of knowing God.

Unfortunately, this is what most of us know. A lot of Christians in church look for Jesus the bread giver; they do not look for Jesus to follow His ways. And so what they come to do is just receive signs and miracles and not get close to God, and as a result of this, they lose those miracles most times.

A lot of people today rush to deliverance ground to get some relief, but what God really wants is for you to conform to His image. Knowing His acts is low level. Knowing His ways is higher and better.

The people of Israel knew His acts, and they all perished in that wilderness, but Moses knew His ways.

“Did we not prophesy in your name? Heal the sick in your name? Do many mighty works in your name?” And Jesus will say, “Yes, you did, but I do not know you.” How is it possible to do the works of God without knowing God?” Shallow Christians do not know God, and He does not know them.

WHAT DOES IT MEAN TO BE SHALLOW?

Not deep.

Being empty.

Superficial. You come to the house of God, dress differently, go out and dress differently. Angelic in church, Jezebelic outside.

To be on the surface.

To be hollow.

To be lightweight.

Wishy-washy.

Light Christians. That is why when that hand came from heaven to write against Belshazzar, it wrote something very interesting to him. It wrote, “Thou art weighed in the balances and found wanting.” If heaven should weigh you and you are light, it means you are shallow.

Not strong.

Not deep, just on the surface. God knows that you are not deep, and because of that, you go from Mount Goshen to Mount Robert, circulating your head all over, wasting your precious time instead of becoming your own prophet. Your own prophet can only be found inside of you.

It is possible to be in church, in a group, but not have a personal interaction with God. It is this personal interaction with God most Christians lack. God is more interested in having a personal relationship with God than doing any great works in His name.

This is a great delusion affecting many Christians ,  working for God and not knowing Him. There are many people working in MFM all over world who do not know me. They may recognise me when they see me but do not have a personal relationship with me.

Do you expect God to come to you and develop a relationship with you? Certainly not. It is left to you and me to draw to Him daily. If you are close to Him, He will move close to you.
