Afrobeats star Davido has revealed he does not want any of his children to follow in his footsteps into the entertainment industry.
In a recent interview on The Breakfast Club, the singer explained that he would prefer his children to work in his father’s business empire instead of dealing with the pressures of fame. Davido admitted that his own journey in the music industry was full of struggles before he finally became successful.
“Imade and the rest of my kids are never going into music or the entertainment industry because I suffered,” the singer stated. “They should go and work for my dad.”
Davido shared that seeing the joy his father, Chief Adedeji Adeleke, gets from spending time with his grandchildren changed his perspective on what truly matters in life. He noted that despite his father’s great wealth and private jets, his happiest moments are spent with family.
The singer recalled how his father initially tried to stop him from doing music, which was difficult for him at the time. However, now that he is a parent himself, he wants to guide his children toward more stable careers that offer less public pressure.
While he eventually followed his passion against his father’s wishes, Davido hopes to steer his children toward the family business to give them a smoother path in life.
