Thomas Adewumi University, Oko-Irese in Irepodun local government area of Kwara State will on November 26 graduate 26 pioneer students. Six of them made first class degrees.
The vice chancellor of the university, Prof Francisca Oladipo, disclosed this during a press briefing to herald the maiden convocation.
Oladipo said the university’s graduates were distinct in all ramifications as they combine compulsory skills acquisition training with academics.
“We are not producing graduates for public service, we are producing graduates for the world market,” she said.
Oladipo said the university which was officially licensed by the federal government on April 8, 2021 commenced academic session same year with 13 academic programmes across three faculties.
She expressed delight that it has expanded significantly, offering 27 academic programmes in 24 departments under seven faculties, with a solid record of achievements including 100 percent full accreditation of all its programmes by the National Universities Commission (NUC).
