American Golf Legend, Eldrick Tont “Tiger” Woods has returned to social media with an emotional Memorial Day message, nearly two months after reports of his DUI arrest and announcement of rehab treatment surfaced.
The golf legend shared a tribute on Monday honouring fallen soldiers and also remembered his late father, Earl Woods, who served two tours in Vietnam with the U.S. Army Special Forces.
His words read:
“My father was a Special Forces operator with two tours in Vietnam and 20 years of service. “To all those like my father, we all say thank you for your sacrifices. Without them, we wouldn’t have the greatest country on Earth.”
Vanessa Trump later reshared the message on social media in support of her boyfriend, Tiger Woods.
The statement marked Woods’ first public comment since March 31, when he announced he would step away temporarily to seek treatment following his DUI arrest in Florida.
The golf star was charged with two misdemeanours, including DUI involving property damage and refusing to take a lawful test. Reports said he recorded a 0.00 per cent BAC in a breathalyser test after the incident.
Following the arrest, Woods was reportedly allowed to travel abroad for inpatient treatment and is said to have remained in Switzerland during his rehabilitation process.
