The suspension was contained in a release issued from the palace of Oba Munirudeen Adesola Lawal, the Timi of Ede Land and made available to newsmen.

According to the release, Chief Jimoh Kabir was suspended as Loogun of Edeland following a series of allegations of land grabbing, flagrant disrespect for law and order, and disrespect for the stool of Timi Agbale Olofa Ina of Edeland.

The Timi-in-Council said it is unbecoming of the subject of the Timi of Edeland to be engaged in alleged illegal land grabbing unrepentantly despite several attempts to check him that have proven futile.

The release stated that the council found it necessary to restore sanity to the communities under Kabir’s control by suspending him until further notice.

The Timi-in-Council emphasised its resolve to bring sanctity to the traditional institution in Edeland and warned all other chiefs in Edeland not to allow the euphoria and ecstasy of such offices to misuse their privileges and transgress against the subjects.

Chief Jimoh Kabir declined to comment on the telephone and could not be reached.
