This development was confirmed in a letter sent to the Trade Union authorities, and acknowledged by the Trade Union’s legal adviser, Terung wa Anande, Esq.

The letter stated that Ahile was removed due to breaches of the Union’s constitution.

“This letter serves to inform you that, in accordance with our Union’s Constitution, we have undertaken a process to address breaches of our constitution by our former president, Comr. Solomon Ahile,” it read.

The letter further noted that the necessary procedures were followed and supporting documents, including the minutes of the meeting where the decision was taken, have been submitted to the appropriate authorities.

“In line with our union’s rules and democratic principles, a new President, Comr. Tina Doofan Orjir has been elected to replace Comr. Solomon Ahile,” the statement added.

She pledged to provide regular seminars and training to enhance members’ skills and keep them abreast of new technologies and trends.

Orjir also emphasised the need to collaborate with government agencies to establish professional standards and ensure safe practices in the industry.

She announced plans to revive events like the Afro Hair Culture and Beauty Festival, which promotes African beauty, culture, and entrepreneurship.

To drive local economic growth, the president pledged to encourage domestic production of beauty products and tools, reducing dependence on imports.

She also committed to engaging with government stakeholders to develop policies supporting the sector, including tax incentives and funding for small businesses.

Further benefits under her leadership will include access to legal advice, contract support, discounted insurance rates, and unlimited telephone consultancy for all members.

Orjir assured members that her administration would prioritise professionalism, empowerment, and industry growth at the grassroots and national levels.
