Tinuade Sanda Wins ‘2023 Vanguard Energy Icon Of The Year’ Award

The former managing director of Eko Electricity Distribution Company (EKDC) and a prominent figure in the Nigerian energy landscape, Dr. Tinuade Sanda, has been honoured with the prestigious ‘Vanguard Energy Icon of the Year’ Award at a ceremony, which took place at Eko Hotel and Suites, Victoria Island, Lagos.

The Vanguard Personality of the Year Award in its 12th edition, is an annual event that celebrates eminent personalities who have excelled in professional excellence and demonstrated outstanding service to humanity in both private and public sectors.

Dr. Sanda’s recognition as the Energy Icon of the Year highlighted her remarkable contributions to the energy sector and her commitment to advancing Nigeria’s power industry.

In her acceptance speech, Dr. Sanda expressed her gratitude to Vanguard Newspapers for the recognition and dedicated the award to her team, the entire workforce and Board of Directors of Eko Electricity Distribution Company.

“I am deeply honoured to receive this award. It is a testament to the hard work and dedication of my team and the support from the Board of Directors and other stakeholders in the sector. I’m looking forward to even greater milestones ahead,” she stated.

Dr. Sanda further emphasised the importance of collaborative efforts in overcoming the challenges faced by the energy sector and reiterated her commitment to contributing to the development of Nigeria’s power industry.

“The energy sector is pivotal to the growth and development of our nation. I believe that with consistent collaboration, we can revitalise the energy sector. Together, we have made significant strides, and I am confident that we will continue to achieve even greater milestones.

“I remain committed to driving innovation and progress in the energy sector for the sustainable development of our nation,” she stated.

Welcoming guests to this year’s event, the Editor of Vanguard Newspapers, Mr. Eze Anaba, disclosed that the sole focus of the event was to celebrate outstanding achievers.
