President Bola Tinubu-led administration is keen on addressing youth unemployment in the country, says the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), Senator George Akume.

Akume disclosed this when the newly elected executive council of the National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYC), led by Comrade Jethro Annum, paid him a courtesy visit in Abuja.

He thanked the delegation for deeming it fit to identify with the President Tinubu-led administration.

Akume remarked that the President Tinubu administration has pioneered pragmatic initiatives and policies aimed at alleviating the suffering of Nigerians and addressing youth unemployment

“On our part as Government that is youth- friendly, we shall continue to support you in all your activities, including the provision of a befitting secretariat and logistics support to aid your nationwide efforts in coordinating, sensitizing and empowering Nigeria youths to take advantage of our laudable initiatives,” he noted.

Responding on behalf of the NYC delegation, the Board Chairman, Dr. Yakubu Shendam, thanked the SGF for his warm reception and support so far, reiterating that, “Nigerian youths will continue to be loyal and committed to the Renewed Hope Agenda of the current administration which has rolled out policies and initiatives aimed at empowering Nigerians.”

He particularly praised the President Tinubu-led administration for launching the National Education Loan Fund (NELFUND) and other numerous empowerment initiatives targeting the Nigerian youths with the sole aim of ending the lingering cycle of poverty in the country.

“He maintained that the current administration has exceeded the expectations of Nigerians with the vast infrastructural projects spread across the country and the tactical manner with which it has defeated criminal elements that have posed security threats to our dear nation.

He added: “As youths were excited with these achievements and would want to openly identify and partner with the government to ensure peace, security and development of the country. We cannot leave here without apreciating the efforts made by this administration in developing the economy and boosting our foreign reserves.

“From an empty inherited treasury, the visionary leadership of the current administration has grown our foreign reserves to over $50 billion dollars. This is laudable and we are proud of this monumental feat.”

The initiative was to felicitate with the SGF and receive his fatherly blessings as the political leader to Comrade Annum and to pledge the loyalty and support of Nigerian youths to the current administration as well as seek the support of the current administration to enable NYC deliver on its mandate effectively.
