Tinubu, Bago, Barau Celebrate Babangida At 82

President Bola Tinubu has shared in the joy of celebration with family members, friends, and associates of Gen. Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida as the former military President turns 82 on August 17, 2023.

Tinubu in a statement by Presidential Spokesman, Ajuri Ngelale congratulated the former military President, who had served in many capacities in the Nigerian army with distinction and reached the peak of his career as Chief of Army Staff with indelible legacies for his gallant defense of our nationhood during the Nigerian Civil War.

The president affirmed the contributions of Gen. Babangida to national development, which include the creation of many states to strengthen the federal structure, physical infrastructure, the liberalization of the media industry, and other initiatives across the health and defense sectors.

Tinubu noted the influential position of the former Nigerian leader, who has, after 30 years outside of power, consistently remained a voice of wisdom and counsel for many political leaders, both within and outside of Nigeria.

The president prayed for the continuous well-being of Gen. Babangida and his family. Also, Niger State Governor Mohammed Umaru Bago has described the former Military President, Gen. Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida as a living legend as he turns 82.

In a statement by the chief press secretary Bologi Ibrahim, Governor Umaru Bago , said the former Military President is a true patriot and nationalist who has made a tremendous impact in shaping the nation’s history and sacrifices to ensure the survival and unity of Nigeria.

He observed that the doggedness and resolve of the Octogenarian in nation-building were crucial to the stability, national and international unity as well as development of the country.

According to him, the policies and programmes of the elder statesman during his regime as the Military President of the country between 1985 and 1993 are still standing strong long after his active service to the nation.

Also, the Deputy Senate President Barau Jibrin has extolled the virtues of former Military President, General Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida (IBB) on the occasion of his 82nd birthday.

The Deputy Senate President in a statement by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Ismail Mudashir, said the former military leader played a significant role in the advancement of the country’s infrastructure.

“He is one of our elder statesmen who contributed immensely in fast-tracking the development of our beloved country. On the occasion of his 82nd birthday, I pray to Allah SWT to grant him good health and strength for us to continue to draw from his wealth of knowledge, wisdom and experience,” the lawmaker said.
