Tinubu Commissions Kugbo Bus Terminal, Wike Challenges Critics As FCT Transforms

President Bola Tinubu has commissioned the newly constructed Kugbo Bus Terminal in Abuja, marking another milestone in the administration’s push for modern transportation infrastructure.
The event saw strong remarks from the President and the FCT Minister, Nyesom Wike, who defended the administration’s achievements while taking veiled swipes at critics.

President Tinubu, represented by Senate President Godswill Akpabio, described the terminal as a “landmark project” under his Renewed Hope Agenda, emphasising that no nation progresses without modernising public mobility.

“No nation has made noticeable progress without expanding critical public utilities. This terminal, like Mabuchi and the upcoming Eagle Square hub, will enhance connectivity, reduce travel time, and boost economic growth,” he said.

The President assured that the facility, equipped with CCTV surveillance and a structured transport system, would curb crimes like “one-chance” robberies.

“Here, vehicles and drivers are properly registered, ensuring safety from start to finish. I commend Minister Wike, Mr. Project, for delivering this on record time,” Tinubu said.
President Tinubu urged residents to embrace the new system, while Wike’s combative tone underscored the administration’s resolve to push forward despite opposition.

“This is just one piece of our infrastructure mosaic. More is coming,” Tinubu said.
While delivering his address, the FCT Minister thanked the President for supporting the FCT’s transformation while dismissing detractors.

“Some people claim past governments built these projects, let them come forward! Nobody can dispute that these are new developments under President Tinubu. Even if you hate him, you must acknowledge his work in Abuja,” he said.

He challenged critics to inspect the 17 projects lined up for commissioning, daring anyone to disprove their authenticity.

“If you take risks by boarding unauthorised vehicles after this, it’s your fault. Government has provided safety—compliance is your duty,” he said.

Wike revealed that the terminals would be managed privately to ensure sustainability, criticising government-run systems for being prone to failure.

“Civil servants or politicians will ruin this in weeks. Private operators will pay revenue and maintain efficiency,” he stated.

He also aimed at political hypocrisy, recalling an encounter with a critic who served in government for years without hunger, only to complain after leaving office.

“Why deceive Nigerians? Those preaching care are only hungry for power. Let’s tell the truth, this administration is delivering,” Wike said.

The Kugbo terminal follows the recent commissioning of the Mabuchi facility, with another slated for the Central Business District.

Wike also confirmed that the Abuja International Conference Centre is fully booked till 2027, signalling booming demand. “Abuja is changing. If you doubt Tinubu’s impact, come and see,” he said.
