President Bola Tinubu has congratulated Professor Babafemi Badejo, a seasoned diplomat, scholar, and former deputy special representative of the UN Secretary-General at the UN Political Office for Somalia.on his 70th birthday today.

Tinubu, in a statement by his media aide, Bayo Onanuga joined family and friends to celebrate Professor Badejo’s rich and impactful career at the United Nations, the African Union, and academia.

The President recalled that the accomplished scholar, also a member of the Nigerian Bar is known for his dedication to political reforms and courage in conflict-affected regions during his assignments at the United Nations.

He further applauded the diplomat’s contributions to the peace process in Somalia, Liberia, Guinea-Bissau, and Sudan and his pivotal role in the Djibouti Initiative, which laid the foundation for national governance structures in Somalia after a decade of strife.

The president extended his best wishes for Professor Badejo’s continued good health and strength as he enriches scholarship and inspires diligence, discipline, and the pursuit of knowledge.
