Popular Nigerian businessman, Pascal Chibuike Okechukwu, also known as Cubana Chiefpriest, has stated that his past political choices have made President Bola Tinubu cautious about his loyalty.

The socialite shared this during a live online chat with digital creator, Peller.

According to him, his strong support for the Labour Party (LP) presidential candidate, Peter Obi, during the 2023 elections is the reason the presidency views him with caution ahead of the 2027 polls.

“Let me tell you, as I am now, Tinubu doesn’t really trust me as an Igbo man. He looks at me with one eye. He is still like ‘this one that has worked for Peter Obi before’,” Chiefpriest stated during the stream.

Leadership recalls that the socialite had earlier shown interest in running for a seat in the House of Representatives under the All Progressives Congress (APC) for the Orsu/Orlu/Iru East Federal Constituency in Imo State, but later stepped down before the primaries.

After that, he became a coordinator for the City Boys Movement, a political group that campaigned for President Tinubu.

According to him, the businessman said he decided to join the ruling party to ensure his political efforts would be successful.

He added that in politics, dealing with internal party members can often be harder than facing the opposition.

“I don’t want to lose for the second time with Peter Obi,” he said
