Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has assured residents of the nation’s capital that President Bola Tinubu would personally inaugurate several projects in the area councils in celebration of his upcoming second-year anniversary in office.

Wike made this commitment yesterday after inspecting ongoing projects in the Kwali, Gwagwalada and Bwari area councils.

He emphasised the government’s focus on satellite towns development, noting that President Tinubu has a keen interest in improving these areas.

“He is not solely focusing on the cities. He has directed us to ensure that while we develop the cities, we don’t neglect the satellite towns.

He expressed optimism on arranging for President Tinubu to visit and commission some of these initiatives in the area councils.

“At the very least, he should visit one of the area councils so the people can personally see their president. It’s not just about commissioning projects in the city; he will also come to at least one or two area councils to ensure the people feel connected to him,” Wike said.

“We toured Gwagwalada, where projects like the Market Road, Palace Road and Radio House Road are set to be inaugurated during the president’s anniversary,” he said.

Wike also highlighted the advances made in Kwali, stating, “On the A2 to Pai road in Kwali, we’ve covered about 15 kilometers, with 13 kilometers of asphalt completed. This will be ready to hand over to the president for his second year in office.”

While addressing developments in Ushafa in Bwari area council, he remarked, “This A2 road connects to the War College and the community, showcasing our efforts to enhance connectivity between the satellite towns and the city.”

He expressed satisfaction with the ongoing projects, stating, “The contractor has assured us that everything will be completed before the President’s anniversary. This shows Mr. President’s commitment to developing the satellite towns, reducing travel time to the city and allowing residents to stay and work locally.

“We have fulfilled our financial obligations as promised. By the end of the month, they will receive further funding to ensure that our commitments are met, and we are very pleased with the progress.”
