A civic group, The Citizens Project, has said President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration may set a new record as the most documented president in Africa.

A statement by its chief facilitator/co-convener, Dr Sam Okey Nwosu, revealed that since President Tinubu’s assumption of office on May 29, 2023, the organisation has been tracking his policies, reforms, appointments and major decisions. It added that unlike traditional government records, the initiative is entirely citizen-led and focused on transparency and accountability.

According to the group, the project has produced The Reform Index™, a growing collection of records that highlight key actions taken by the Tinubu Administration, including the removal of fuel subsidies, currency reforms, regional development efforts, and major judicial appointments.

Nwosu said the initiative operates across Nigeria’s 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory. It stresses that its goal is to make governance more visible and measurable, not to praise or criticise the government, but to ensure democracy is active beyond just elections.

“This isn’t about praise or criticism; it is about making governance visible and reminding everyone that democracy thrives when people are not just voting, but also watching.

“As President Tinubu moves into the second half of his tenure, the long-term impact of his reforms remains to be seen. But one thing is clear: this presidency will be one of the most documented in African history,” he added.

He mentioned his majesty Ooni Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi, CFR, Ooni of Ife and His Royal Highness, Alhaji Nasir Ado Bayero, OFR, as key national patrons and drivers of The Citizens Project.
