President Bola Tinubu has extended his best wishes and congratulations to Sheikh Dahiru Usman Bauchi, the renowned Islamic leader, on attaining the milestone age of 100.
Tinubu, in a statement yesterday by his spokesman, Ajuri Ngelale, described Sheikh Dahiru Bauchi as a shining light who has significantly contributed to shaping Islamic knowledge and moral and ethical standards in modern Nigeria.
The president thanked the Tijjaniyya leader for dedicating his life to spreading knowledge and raising generations of Nigerians.
Also, the chairman of the Northern States Governors’ Forum and governor of Gombe State, Inuwa Yahaya, felicitated Sheik Bauchi on his birthday anniversary.
In a statement by his media aide Isma’ila Uba Misilli, the chairman of the governors forum described Sheikh Dahiru Bauchi as a towering figure in the Islamic world, known for his profound knowledge of the Holy Quran.
He added that Sheikh Dahiru’s understanding of the deeper spiritual aspects of Sophism and esoterics distinguished him as a spiritual guide par excellence.
“Sheikh Dahiru Bauchi’s teachings have transcended generations, enriching the lives of countless individuals through his deep and insightful exegesis of sacred Qur’an. Throughout his life, he has remained a pillar and moral compass in our society”, the governor remarked.
The NSGF chairman commended the Tijjaniyya leader for his relentless commitment to nurturing moral and spiritual values, which he said have been instrumental in shaping the character and faith of his followers and offspring, as well as his immense role in fostering unity, peace, and religious tolerance.
“Sheikh Dahiru Usman Bauchi’s centenary is not just a celebration of his life but a reaffirmation of the timeless values he embodies and the legacy built on the principles of integrity, humility, and piety.”
