President Bola Tinubu, Ebonyi State Governor Francis Nwifuru and presidential candidate of Labour Party in the 2023 general election, Mr Peter Obi, have described the late ormer governor of Abia Statef, Dr Ogbonnaya Onu as a patriotic Nigerian, a perfect gentleman, a unifier and a man who stood for justice and fairness.
They spoke during the burial of Dr Onu at the Christ the King Catholic Church, Uburu, Ebonyi State.
According to them, Dr Onu was a true progressive who worked assiduously to ensure the progress, unity and stability of Nigeria
President Tinubu, who was represented by the minister of Works, Sen David Umahi said that Dr Onu lived a life of emulation adding that as a nation, Nigeria would continue to strive to achieve good governance for the people.
He said that the present administration is determined to improve the living standard of the masses which he said Dr Onu believed in and strived to achieve.
President Tinubu said that Dr Onu would be greatly missed in the country adding that his contributions to the development and growth of Abia State and Nigeria in general is what every leader must emulate.
In his address, Ebonyi State governor, Francis Nwifuru, maintained that during his lifetime, Dr Onu touched humanity and played key roles in the building, development and stability of Ebonyi State and Nigeria.
Governor Nwifuru said that Dr Onu united communities in Ebonyi State as the governor of Abia State and commended Abia State governor, Alex Otti for renaming the Abia State Polytechnic after Dr Onu.
In a chat with newsmen, the 2023 Labour Party presidential candidate, Mr Peter Obi, expressed concern over the lack of justice in the country and described Dr Onu as a man of integrity, justice and fairness.
He noted that the country needs people like Dr Onu who will always fight for justice and fairness for all.
