Tinubu, Others Mourn Islamic Scholar, Sheikh Ali

President Bola Tinubu has expressed grief over the death of foremost Islamic scholar, Sheikh Yusuf Ali, in the early hours of Monday, at 73.

The president sent a condolence message to the family, students and followers of the Kano-based scholar.

Tinubu in a statement by his media aide, Ajuri Ngelale, described the death of the religious leader as one that reverberates across the country in view of the late scholar’s wide network of followers, especially among the Tijjaniyya sect in Nigeria and beyond.

Also, Kano State governor, Abba Yusuf Kabir, has condoled with the families of late Sheikh Ali (Sarkin Malaman Gaya) and the entire Gaya Emirate over his death.

The governor also extended his condolence to the Hadejia Emirate, the people and government of Jigawa State over the death of Magajin Rafin Hadejia, Alhaji Muhammadu Babandede Sarkiki who died penultimate Sunday night in Egypt.

The chief press secretary to the governor, Sanusi Bature, in a statement said his principal described the death of the duo as shocking and devastating considering their contributions towards the socio-cultural development of Kano and Jigawa states, and Northern Nigeria at large.

Similarly, the deputy senate president Barau Jibrin, has mourned Sheikh Ali.

In a condolence message signed by his special adviser on media and publicity, Ismail Mudashir, Senator Barau extended his condolences to the family of the deceased, the Kano State Government and the entire Muslim Ummah.

He said the deceased’s legacy will continue to shine, illuminating the path of knowledge and spirituality for all.

“Sheikh Yusuf Ali was a renowned Islamic scholar whose influence extended far beyond our national borders. His teachings and wisdom have enriched the lives of countless individuals in Nigeria and beyond.

“His profound knowledge, sermons, and writings have served as guiding light and sources of inspiration for Muslims. His unwavering dedication to promoting peace, unity, and understanding within the Islamic community will leave an indelible mark for generations to come.

“As we mourn his departure, I pray to Allah, the Most Merciful, to grant him a place in Jannatul Firdausi and provide his family with the strength to bear this profound loss. Our thoughts and prayers are with them,” he said.
