He added that Tinubu, who spoke through the vice chancellor, Michael Okpara University of Agriculture, Umudike, Abia State, Prof. Maduebibisi Ofo Iwe, described Yari as an outstanding performer in all aspects of human endeavours and an honest, sincere, and reliable ally.

As a visitor to the occasion, the president also urged Senator Yari (the awardee) to sustain his lofty ideals, adding that they are in line with his Administration Renewed Hope Agenda, which will secure and guarantee the future of our nation.

Speaking at the event, the university’s chancellor, His Royal Majesty the Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi CFR, said, “It was with keen interest and rare admiration that we have been observing the modest contribution of the awardee, especially in the area of education.”

The chancellor, who spoke through the institution’s pro-chancellor, Engineer Kayode Olubunmi Ojo, explained that the award was to recognise such efforts and further spur the awardee and his likes into more active participation in the good work so that a collaborative approach to uplifting the educational system of our respective communities will be adopted.

In his remarks, the university’s acting vice – chancellor, Prof. Oguejifor T. Ujam stated that the name of the awardee was carefully selected out of the many names submitted to the management of the university by a team of experts who scrutinised the list using so many parameters in quantifying their individual and personal contributions in the educational development of their people, adding that Senator Abdulaziz Yari Abubakar made it to the list with relative ease because of his steadfastness in this regard.

Receiving the award on behalf of the Awardee, Senator Tijjani Yahaya Kaura MFR (Tafidan Kaura), chairman of the Senator A A Yari Scholarship Initiative Committee, expressed gratitude to the management, staff, and the university community for the honour and reaffirmed that it would grease the recipient’s elbows.

Many important dignitaries, including the Senate majority leader, Senator Michael Opeyemi Bamidele, attended the event.
