President Bola Tinubu has restated his administration’s determination to eliminate terrorists and bandits across Northern Nigeria, declaring that no part of the country would be abandoned to violence under his watch.
Addressing the 25th Anniversary of the Arewa Consultative Forum (ACF) in Kaduna, the president who was represented by the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Hon. Tajuddeen Abbas, said the North was facing one of the most severe tests in its history, marked by deepening insecurity, erosion of communal values and a distortion of long-held moral principles.
Tinubu said while his government inherited complex and deeply entrenched security challenges, the commitment to restoring peace remained urgent and unwavering. “Nigeria cannot prosper when a key part of its national body is paralysed,” he warned, stressing that the stability of the North was essential to the peace and progress of the entire federation.
The president assured that the region’s economic decline would be decisively reversed. He expressed confidence that the anticipated roll-out of crude oil from the Kolmani fields and new discoveries across the North would mark a historic turning point for regional prosperity.
He said his administration was deploying policies that would ensure the North becomes a major energy hub capable of driving national development.
Tinubu praised the ACF for sustaining 25 years of moral leadership, describing the forum as a reservoir of intellectuals, patriots and mediators who have consistently defended the dignity and aspirations of millions. He applauded the foresight of its founding fathers, noting that they built an institution strong enough to withstand national turbulence and articulate the North’s collective hopes.
In the same spirit of optimism, Deputy Senate President Senator Barau Jibrin echoed the President’s message, expressing confidence that the North has the capacity to surmount insecurity if leaders act with collective resolve.
