President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has approved the reappointment of Adamu Adaji as the director-general of the National Boundary Commission (NBC) for a second term.
The reappointment was communicated in a letter signed by the secretary to the government of the federation, Sen. George Akume, which was made available to the press by Efe Ovuakporie, head of the Information and Public Relations Unit.
The letter reads in part, “I am pleased to inform you that his excellency, Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, has approved the renewal of your appointment as director-general of the National Boundary Commission for a second and final term of four (4) years, in accordance with the provisions of Section 16 (1) and (3)(a) of the National Boundary Commission (Establishment) Act, 2006.
“This appointment is effective from 7th August 2024, and your emoluments and other conditions of service shall be as provided under the Certain Political, Public and Judicial Office Holders (Salaries and Allowances, etc.) (Amendment) Act, 2008.”
Adaji holds a MSc in Land Surveying from Ahmadu Bello University and an MPA in Public Administration from the University of Maiduguri.
He joined NBC in 1992 as an assistant chief surveyor and was previously a lecturer at Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria.
He rose to the NBC director position and was appointed substantive DG on 8th August 2020.
His reappointment is expected to further expand the Agency‘s scope of operations and establish a peaceful boundary regime in Nigeria‘s 86 interstate boundary communities and international boundaries.
