President Bola Tinubu is slated to attend the official unveiling of the Peace In South East Project (PISE-P) and a grand reception for Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Benjamin Kalu, in Bende, Abia State, on Friday.
His entourage will include Senate President Godswill Akpabio, Speaker of the House Tajudeen Abbas, Chief of Staff to the President Femi Gbajabiamila, South East governors, and the Oni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Ogunwusi.
Mary Ikoku, chairperson of the media and communications committee of the organizing team for the event, disclosed this in a statement released to LEADERSHIP in Umuahia, the state capital, on Thursday.
According to the statement, the attendees would include the Obi of Onitsha, Alfred Achebe, business magnates Aliko Dangote and Arthur Eze, members of the National Assembly from the South East, politicians, and the chairman and members of the state’s Traditional Rulers Council.
The event seeks to acknowledge the unwavering commitment of the representative of the Bende federal constituency to public service and his exceptional contributions to the zone and the nation at large.
The statement siad, “As the deputy speaker, he has played and continues to play a pivotal role in shaping policies that address the needs and aspirations of the people of Bende local government, the zone, and the country at large,” the statement noted.
“PISE-P aims not only to end insecurity in the zone through dialogue with the organisers and key stakeholders but also to initiate the rebuilding of the zone, utilising the eight pillars of PISE-P as tools for recovery and reconstruction.”
The statement further stressed that both the PISE-P team and Kalu’s community take pride in his tireless efforts, consistent dedication, and remarkable achievements toward the development of the constituency.
