In a major infrastructural push for the nation’s capital, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, on Wednesday, announced that President Bola Tinubu has approved the commissioning of 10 landmark projects within the FCT, beginning Tuesday, June 10.

Wike, who made this known during an inspection of a project to be commissioned by President Tinubu, outlined a schedule in which the President will personally inaugurate projects over 10 consecutive days.

“Mr. President has finally approved the commissioning of projects to start on June 10, which is next Tuesday, after the Sallah holidays.

“That will begin with the International Conference Centre (ICC), and as you can see, we are good to go,” Wike said.

He stated that the commissioning would continue on June 11 with a major road project in the Gishiri area.

“The President will commission this route from the interchange, going to Jahi, and the other side going to Maitama and Mabushi,” Wike explained.

Originally, 17 projects were slated for commissioning to mark Tinubu’s two years in office, but the schedule was adjusted to accommodate the President’s availability.

“We are set to go, and the President will personally commission 10 projects. The remaining seven will be handled as follows: the Vice President will commission three, the Senate President will commission two, and the Speaker of the House of Representatives will commission two,” Wike stated.

The minister expressed deep gratitude for the President’s commitment, describing it as unprecedented.

“We want to thank the President. It is not easy for him to dedicate 10 full days to commissioning projects. The Vice President will handle three days, the Senate President two days, and the Speaker two days. So, we are happy, very, very happy, that the people of Abuja are happy,” he said.

Gesturing to the surrounding community, Wike pointed to public excitement as evidence of the Tinubu administration’s impact.

“You can see the joy of the children. They are all feeling the impact of the Renewed Hope Agenda, and that is how it should be,” the Minister said.

He assured that final touches, including road clearances around venues like the ICC, would be completed before the events.

When asked about the significance of overseeing such an extensive commissioning programme, Wike credited the President’s support.

“With the kind of backing we have from Mr. President, we are extremely grateful for the opportunity to contribute to the Renewed Hope Agenda. We have fulfilled our promises, and the people’s happiness is our joy.

“We cannot fully express how elated we are, but we give glory to God and thank Mr. President for his unwavering support,” Wike stated.
