Aliyu Audu has formally resigned as senior special assistant to the president on public affairs.
In a letter dated June 8, 2025, addressed to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu through the chief of staff, Audu announced that his resignation takes immediate effect.
He expressed profound gratitude to the president for the opportunity to serve in his administration, describing the experience as an honour and privilege.
“I remain deeply grateful to you, Mr President, for the opportunity to serve my fatherland under your visionary leadership,” Audu wrote. “It has been an honour to contribute to the public communication efforts of this administration.”
He also acknowledged Mr Ajuri Ngelale, the former special adviser on media and publicity, for nominating him for the role despite their brief prior acquaintance.
Audu was nominated on August 26, 2023, and his appointment was officially approved by President Tinubu on October 9, 2023.
While no specific reason was stated for his resignation, Audu assured the president of his continued prayers for the administration’s success and the nation’s progress.
