Founder of BAT Movement Nigeria, Otunba Abiodun Ajiboye, has described President Bola Tinubu’s economic reforms as painful but necessary for Nigeria’s future.

He spoke at a summit on the second year assessment and celebration of the achievements of President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda in Abuja yesterday.

According to Ajiboye who is the executive secretary/CEO of the National Institute for Cultural Orientation (NECO), the reforms, though challenging, are crucial for the country’s long-term economic stability and growth.

“It is pertinent to remind ourselves that the journey so far has not been easy, but as painful as they may appear to be, they remain necessary decisions that need to be taken towards achieving a greater Nigeria that works for all.

“The task of building a nation is the responsibility of all. Therefore, as citizens, we must continue to exercise patience with the current administration to pursue policies that build a resilient, strong and diversified economy for the benefit of present and future generations,” he said.

Chief of staff to the president, Hon. Femi Gbajabiamila who was represented by the special assistant to the president on administration and operations, Mrs. Oyinade Nathan-Marsh, also highlighted the positive impact of the reforms, including a more transparent foreign exchange market and reduced government expenditure leakages.

She added that the removal of fuel subsidy had saved the government over $10 billion in 2023, reducing fiscal strain and redirecting funds to critical sectors. The unification of exchange rates has boosted investor confidence and is expected to drive long-term economic stability, she added.
