The Imo State Coordinator of Renewed Hope Ambassadors (RHA), Rt. Hon. Goodluck Opiah, has said that President Bola Tinubu’s reforms are now yielding positive results, increased state allocations, improved infrastructure funding, and strengthened social investment programs.

Opiah, a former former minister of State for Education made the disclosure on Tuesday during the inauguration of local government area Coordinators of RHA in Imo State.

He charged the ambassadors to effectively sell government policies, defend reform policies, and ensure that the voice of people is transmitted to President Bola Tinubu.

Opiah said Imo State had benefited from increased resources, with massive investments in roads, healthcare, education, security, and urban renewal and urged the newly inaugurated coordinators to see their assignment as a call to service, engaging with community leaders, youth groups, and women associations to promote peace, stability, and development .

He disclosed that the Renewed Hope Ambassadors is an advocacy movement established to promote and defend the policies and programmes of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, adding that it is designed as a bridge between government and the people, particularly at the grassroots, where misinformation often spreads faster than facts and where citizens deserve clear explanations about government actions that affect their daily lives.

The former speaker of the Imo State house of assembly noted that some decisions by the federal he came with challenges at the inception but maintained that leadership was about necessary decisions that will secure the future of the nation.

Further, he said the policies had started yielding positive developments to include increased allocations, infrastructure funding, social investment programmes adding thatcstate governments now have greater capacity to implement development projects that touch the lives of ordinary people.

Opiah said the inauguration of local government area Coordinators was very significant as politics and governance were ultimately local.

He said “today’s event is not just about appointments or positions. It is about strengthening our grassroots engagement and reinforcing our collective responsibility to defend democracy, promote good governance and sustain the progressive ideals of the All Progressives Congress under the leadership of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and our own Governor, Distinguished Senator Hope Uzodimma”, he said.

He added that development must be felt in villages, wards and polling units, not only in capital cities, saying the coordinators will serve as the operational backbone of Renewed Hope Ambassadors at the local government level.

Opiah stated that the Renewed Hope Ambassadors was not an opposition to any structure within the APC but partners to complement the party’s mobilisation efforts and work within the broader framework of party unity, discipline and loyalty to leadership.

He said “you are not an opposition to any structure within the APC. We are partners in progress. We complement the party’s mobilisation efforts and work within the broader framework of party unity, discipline and loyalty to leadership.

“This is also not a platform for personal political ambition. It is a service platform. Those who have been appointed were selected based on their experience, commitment to party ideals and capacity to mobilise people at the grassroots.

“I want to use this opportunity to charge all the newly inaugurated coordinators to see this assignment as a call to service. You must be accessible to your people. You must listen to their concerns. You must engage respectfully, even with those who disagree with us politically. Democracy thrives on persuasion, not intimidation”, he said.

The former member of the House of Representatives appealed to the Ambassadors to work hard noting that elections are not won by past victories but through hard work.

He said “we must also guard against complacency. Elections are not won by past victories. They are won by continuous engagement, performance-based campaigns and consistent presence among the people. Our political opponents are active, and we must be more active, more organised and more responsive.

“In Imo State, we are privileged to have Governor Hope Uzodimma as the Renewed Hope Ambassador and national leader of this movement. In addition to his role as Governor, he also serves as the Director-General for Party Outreach, Engagement and Mobilisation of our great party, the APC. This places Imo State at a very strategic position in national party politics and policy advocacy.

“In Imo State, these increased resources have translated into massive investments in roads, healthcare facilities, education, security and urban renewal. These are not abstract achievements; they are visible and measurable projects across our communities. It is our responsibility as Ambassadors to explain this connection between federal reforms and state-level development to our people”, Opiah said.

According to him, the inauguration was beyond mere appointment but about strengthening  grassroots engagement and reinforcing their collective responsibility to defend democracy, promote good governance and sustain the progressive ideals of the All Progressives Congress under the leadership of President Bola Tinubu and  Governor Hope Uzodimma of Imo State.
