The National Director of the Unemployed Youths Association of Nigeria (UYAN), Comrade Ugochukwu Emeana, has described President Bola Tinubu’s intentions to kick start a national youth conference as unparalleled, remarkable and laudable initiative.
He made this known while addressing journalists in Owerri, the Imo State capital.
According to him, this plan signifies that President Tinubu is immensely concerned with creating jobs and ameliorating the current challenges confronting the youths.
He submitted that with this vision, the president is set to implement the mantra of his administration, anchored on the Renewed Hope Agenda. “This is in line with the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Tinubu aimed at empowering the youth.”
Comrade Emeana expressed delight that at the end of the programme, youths across the country would be empowered with skill sets for creating jobs and sustainable development.
The national director highlighted that this initiative by the president has the potential and capacity to reposition the youth as job creators instead of job seekers.
” We commend President Tinubu for this laudable initiative, which has the potential to bring out the youths from the labour market and position them as employers of labour,” he said.
He urged Nigerians to work in unionism and display patriotism and unity of purpose to move the nation to the next level of socio-economic elevation.
He applauded the federal government’s sustained efforts in enhancing sustainable peace and tackling insecurity in the country.
His words, “The federal government is fighting insecurity frontally, and all hands must be on deck to check the activities of hoodlums to free the nation from this quagmire. The youths must collaborate with the government at all levels for a peaceful and egalitarian society.”
Comrade Emeana stressed that it’s imperative for Nigerians to support government efforts to tackle insecurity and several youth empowerment initiatives.
“This is unprecedented and very commendable because it indicates that the President is greatly concerned about the plight of Nigerian Youths.”
He appealed for increased investment in youth empowerment initiatives and skills acquisition programmes to reduce the country’s high unemployment rate.
He said this would enhance peace and stability and strengthen national development.
