A non-governmental organisation, The Tonto Dikeh Foundation has donated ten laptops to Junior Secondary School (JSS) Durumi II in Abuja to enhance digital literacy and improve learning opportunities for students.

The donation forms part of a broader initiative by the foundation to provide 30 laptops to three schools, with ten laptops allocated to each institution in support of the foundation’s evangelism programme.

Founder of the foundation, a renowned actress, Tonto Dikeh said the first batch of ten laptops has already been delivered to JSS Durumi II, marking the beginning of the project aimed at equipping students with modern technological tools needed for learning in the digital age.

According to the foundation in a release, access to digital devices is critical for students to develop essential technology skills, conduct research and expand their learning beyond the traditional classroom environment.

The organisation noted that the initiative is designed to help bridge the digital divide affecting many public schools by giving students the resources needed to explore knowledge, develop innovative thinking and prepare for opportunities in higher education and the modern workforce.

Tonto Dikeh added that the remaining 20 laptops will be distributed to two additional schools in the coming weeks as part of its commitment to strengthening digital education.

In addition to the educational intervention, the foundation also extended humanitarian support to a widower whose child attends the school.

During a recent evangelism outreach at the school, the foundation had pledged to support the education of a young student from JSS1 through to university level.

The team later returned to the school to fulfil the promise by providing the student with essential school items and making financial arrangements to ensure the continuation of his education through junior secondary school.

While interacting with the student’s father, a widower raising three children alone, the foundation further provided ₦1,000,000 to help him start a small business, enabling him to better provide for his family and support the education of his children.

The Tonto Dikeh Foundation said the interventions reflect its commitment to combining humanitarian assistance with educational support, particularly for vulnerable families and underserved communities.

The organisation emphasised that empowering students with digital tools and supporting struggling families are key steps toward building a more inclusive and opportunity-driven future for young Nigerians.
