Top 10 Nigerian Skit Makers With Large Followers On Instagram

Nigerian comic creatives are revolutionising the comedy segment of the larger entertainment or creative industry in the country.

According to a report, some Nigerian skit makers make more than $20,000 monthly from their creative trade.

With easier accessibility to the internet and widespread social media use, digital skit content continues to go viral.

Here are the top 10 skit makers with large followers on Instagram.

With 12 million Instagram followers, the multitalented artiste, actor and comedian, Broda Shaggi, is the most followed digital skit maker on Internet. He began comedy acts many years back while in the university and made a great deal of characters before he later settled for his trademark name of ‘Broda Shaggi’.

2. Cute Abiola:

Abdulgafar Ahmad, popularly known as Cute Abiola, is an online content creator and comic actor. He rose to fame in 2015 and has featured in several comedy skits and movies. Aside from his comedy business, Cute Abiola used to be in the Nigerian Navy. Combining the two professions had landed him in trouble a couple of times, hence he quits the Navy for skit making full-time. He currently has 5.4 million followers on Instagram.

3. Taaooma:

Maryam Apaokagi, who is better known as Taaooma, accidentally stumbled into skit-making when her boyfriend wanted to teach her video editing skills. Arguably the queen of skit making, Taaooma assumes different roles with multiple characters but effortlessly delivers with grace and style. Little wonder she has amassed about 4.9 million followers on Instagram.

4. Sydney Talker:

Amassing the same number of followers as Taaoma, Sydney Talker has 4.9 million Instagram followers.

5. Craze Clown:

Emmanuel Ogonna Iwueke, a.k.a Craze Clown or Papa Ade, has garnered 4.8 million Instagram followers. His is known for his African-themed comedy videos.

6. Woli Agba:

Ayo Ajewole, popularly known as Woli Agba, burst into the scene, acting gospel-themed comedy where he dons a white robe as he acts as a priest. He performs using the Yoruba language. Tagging alongside popular comedians during shows, he has evolved from skit-making to full-blown comedy with 4.8 million followers on Instagram.

7. Lasisi Elenu:

Nosa Afolabi popularly known as Lasisi Elenu, can be easily identified by a special filter that distorts his face, especially his mouth, He says skit-making has become an ingrained part of his artistic identity, an art form he can seamlessly engage in at any juncture, even from the confines of slumber. 4.7m

8. Sabinus:

With 4.4 million followers, Africa Magic Viewers’ Choice Awards (AMVCA) winner, Emmanuel Chukwuemeka Ejekwu, popularly known as Sabinus, is a trending internet sensation. He was awarded in the Online social content creators’ category award at the AMVCA edition 8 awards.

9. Mr Macaroni:

Adebowale Adedayo, a.k.a. Mr Macaroni, is one of the most influential Nigerians on social media. He received a brand new car at the 2023 Trendupp Awards when he emerged winner of the Force of Influence award. He has 3.7 million followers.

10. Brainjotter:

Chukwuemeka Emmanuel Amuzie popularly known as Brain Jotter, recently purchased a new house when he celebrated hitting one million subscribers on YouTube. He has 3 million Instagram followers.
